Upright: This is another one of those cards with the unique capability to have two completely opposite meanings because here you could either be the giver or the receiver. I personally think that this card the giver is the same person from the 5 of pentacles card who finally took the help that was offered to him, and was able to turn things around for himself, and now he knows the importance of paying it forward. He holds the balance in his hands though to remind him that at any given moment things could flip and you could find yourself in the other position. This man knows that karma is real and trusts that when you give out of the goodness of your heart, your contributions will come back to you threefold. The generous soul here is wearing a lot of red, meaning that he finds it his life passion to give to others and is just that type of person who would give the shirt off his back.

Reversed: As I see the upright meaning being the giver, the reverse meaning to me is the beggar. You have lost everything and now you have to beg and plead just for enough to maybe get a meal. How did this all happen, how did you end up living on the streets, just scrapping by? Maybe you became an addict and you lost everything in pursuit of whatever rush you were seeking. Maybe you got lazy somewhere along life’s journey and found it easier to ask for stuff than to work it. Or maybe you risked it all on a bad investment. Either way, it’s never too late to change it around, pick yourself back up and reverse the fates.
